Exchange meeting for Advent decorations: Celebrate sustainably in Solingen!
A very special event will take place in the Solingen city library next Saturday, November 15th: the exchange meeting for Advent decorations. From 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., creative spirits and Christmas elves can come together at Mummstrasse 10 to decorate sustainably and conserve resources. The meeting is organized by the environmental advice of the consumer advice center, the waste advice of the Solingen technical company and the city library, which together pursue the goal of avoiding waste and sharing the anticipation of Christmas. If you are interested, you can bring your well-preserved decorative items with you, swap them and get inspired over a cup of coffee.
What exactly is the exchange meeting about? Exchange items will be accepted between 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. For each item handed in, the participant receives an exchange voucher that can be redeemed for new decorative items. Among other things, Advent and Christmas decorations are permitted, such as baubles, decorative pendants, Advent wreaths and even cookie cutters. There is only a limit on the quantity: a maximum of five exchange items per person are allowed to enter the exchange game; multi-part sets count as one item. It should be noted that electrical decorative items, damaged items or items that do not fit the Christmas season will not be accepted.
Sustainable decoration ideas for the Advent season
The anticipation of Christmas can also be further fueled by atmospheric and sustainable decorations made from natural materials. Loud Happy house construction Materials such as pine cones, moss and mistletoe are extremely popular. Fir branches are ideal for a festive door wreath, while eucalyptus and dried berries round off the Christmas spirit perfectly. Homemade garlands made from dried oranges could liven things up from a creative perspective.
Another tip from the creative workshop: Avoid palm oil and paraffin candles and opt for environmentally friendly alternatives such as candles made from rapeseed, soy or beeswax. Not only are these more environmentally friendly, but they also have a longer burning time. If you don't want to do without decorative lights, you can use battery-operated fairy lights with rechargeable batteries.
Inspiring craft ideas
For anyone looking for even more creative inspiration, there is also the option of making your own poinsettias. Instead of tinsel and plastic balls, you can use environmentally friendly materials and make the stars yourself from baking soda, cornstarch and water. If you would rather try something different, you can also make origami poinsettias.
So take advantage of the opportunity and come to the Solingen City Library on November 15th. There you not only exchange ideas, but also give lots of suggestions on how you can make the Advent season sustainable and stylish. Solingen news cordially invite you!
