Viersen in excitement: unknown people throw clods of earth onto the A61!
A dangerous incident occurred last Saturday, November 1, 2025, on the A61 motorway in Viersen. At around 4 p.m., a car driven by a 61-year-old woman from Düsseldorf was hit by a clod of earth that was thrown from a bridge. The damage to her vehicle was not insignificant, but it could have been much worse. A 21-year-old man from Eslohe reported that another clod of earth hit the immediate vicinity of his vehicle, but fortunately missed him.
The two unknown people who had the dangerous fun on the side of the road are described as teenagers. Two young people who were nearby on bicycles were observed as possible perpetrators. The police are now asking for any relevant information about these people. Interested citizens can contact the Traffic Commissioner on 02162 3770 to pass on information that could help resolve the incident.
Police are asking for information
The behavior of young people on the motorway not only constitutes a crime, but also endangers the lives of drivers. In this context, the police have called on citizens to be careful. If the driver goes unnoticed, such an incident could have fatal consequences.
In several cases, clarification through witness statements has already been requested. The 21-year-old from Esloher is not the only one who was lucky. It is unclear whether there were other vehicles affected by the clods.
Knowledge of the dangers of road traffic should not be taken lightly. Incidents of this kind could have far-reaching consequences. It is therefore of great interest to hold the perpetrators accountable and prevent similar incidents in the future.
Move on to the next challenge
Finally, it should be noted that the difference between a playful adventure and dangerous behavior could not be clearer. Fun should never come at the expense of other people's safety!
