Festive sound festival in the West Prussian Museum: music for everyone!
On Saturday and Sunday, June 28th and 29th, the West Prussian State Museum invites you to a musical world that is not only open to museum visitors. A very special concert entitled “Sound Structures” will take place in the monastery church on Saturday at 7 p.m. Organized by the Franciscan Monastery Cultural Heritage Association, the event pays homage to the decades-long friendship between Poland and Germany. The bell reports that this concert will feature a Polish ensemble led by accordionist Robert Kusiolek. The musicians Anton Siarov and Elena Chekanova enrich the evening with violin, sound objects, live electronics and piano.
The program includes classical masterpieces by Bach, Chopin, Grieg, Satie and Piazzolla, supplemented by the artists' own compositions. Instruments are used that have more than a hundred years of history and are combined with modern electronic sounds. Admission to the concert is free, but donations are welcome.
A celebration for the whole family
Sunday is dedicated to the summer festival, which takes place around the museum and the monastery forecourt. The bell highlights that a varied program is offered for families, including live music, coffee and cake, and scenic tours. Blues musician Michael van Merwyk and his band The Ollies will be there, who will certainly ensure a good atmosphere.
A creative workshop will be set up for the little guests, where they can solve picture puzzles, mint coins and take part in competitions. Museum director Martin Koschny emphasizes the importance of exchange and opening up in this special anniversary year.
Polish music scene in focus
The Polish music scene can look back on a large number of renowned events that also attract international attention. The Polish Art Philharmonic, under the direction of Michael Maciaszczyk since 2014, has developed into an outstanding symphony and chamber orchestra. An ensemble of highly qualified musicians not only offers high artistic quality, but also creates a warm atmosphere that inspires the audience.
Concerts in the Kulturpalast Dresden and in the Vienna Music Association show how successful the orchestra is. In addition to classical works such as Vivaldi's “The Four Seasons”, they also present modern compositions. Other highlights of Polish musical culture include the International Jazz Festival in Krakow, the oldest and largest jazz festival in the country, as well as traditional festivals such as Juwenalia, which offer countless concert opportunities.
The weekend at the West Prussian State Museum promises to be a truly festive experience that will not only make the hearts of music lovers beat faster, but also build a famous cultural bridge between Germany and Poland.
