New Edeka in Oelde: A celebration of freshness and variety from Thursday!

The new Edeka market in Oelde opens its doors for the first time on Thursday at 7 a.m. Under the leadership of Yvonne and Ralf Junkerkalefeld, this market on Warendorfer Straße 109 will be a fresh destination for the city's residents. Preparations are in full swing and the craftsmen are currently busy putting up the last shelves and setting up the cash registers. Currently, 80% of solid goods, including canned goods, pasta, oils and toilet paper, have already been cleared, while fresh products such as meat, cheese, fruit and vegetables will be delivered in time for opening day.

“We’ve been working around the clock on the opening for three weeks,” says Ralf with a smile. The effort is worth it because the team now consists of 40 dedicated permanent employees and temporary employees. But there is still room for maneuver here: three positions for the meat counter are still vacant.

Part of the new local supply center

The Edeka market is part of a new local supply center that has been built on an area of around 11,000 m² on the former dairy site. In this area, civil engineering work was also carried out at the Warendorfer Straße traffic light intersection / at the train station. In addition to the Edeka, the local supply center also includes an Aldi grocery discounter and a new green market from Raiffeisen Beckum e.G.

The architecturally appealing buildings fit harmoniously into Oelde's cityscape and promote the strengthening of the city center. The aim is to sustainably secure local supplies, explains Ten Brinke Projektentwicklung GmbH, which is responsible for implementing the project. The interior design of Edeka is designed in such a way that customers can concentrate optimally on the goods.

The path to the opening

The story of the new market begins with the core renovation of the old Rewe market, which started in February. The new Edeka store has a spacious area of 1,300 square meters and will be open to customers from Monday to Saturday between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. This is the Junkerkalefelds' second Edeka in Oelde; the first opened in 2016 and has already firmly established itself in the cityscape.

There is a lot on offer for customers: In addition to everyday groceries, the market also focuses on local products. The Buhne-Lackhove potato farm, a traditional family business near Warendorf, will deliver fresh potatoes. The quality and freshness of the products are particularly important to customers, which is why the company relies on modern cooling technology that ensures that the potatoes are fresh all year round without chemical germination inhibitors.

Overall, the opening of the new Edeka market brings a breath of fresh air to Oelde and promises to become a popular destination for local residents.
