Summer construction site on the B51: Telgte and Ostbevern affected!

The B51 between Telgte and Ostbevern will be extensively renovated during the summer holidays. From July 24th, a one-way street regulation will come into force, which will direct traffic in the direction of Telgte, while traffic in the direction of Ostbevern will be diverted via the B64, L548, Milte and L830. This is necessary to enable the preparatory work for the renovation, such as radiowaf.de reported.

From August 4th, the route will be completely closed in order to apply layers of asphalt. This full closure is scheduled to last until around mid-August and expects the final construction phase to be partially carried out using construction site traffic lights. The renovation costs amount to around 2.3 million euros, which are provided by the federal government. Despite the construction work, residents' properties will remain accessible during the measures, but may experience short-term restrictions.

Modern design for quick results

The Straßen.NRW Münsterland regional branch is entrusted with the renovation and is relying on modern construction and a compact process. This approach promises to almost halve the construction time, and the road construction professionals will start their work on July 28, 2023 - in time for the NRW summer holidays. During road repairs, the old asphalt layer is milled away and replaced with new layers. In addition, deeper layers are being renovated in certain areas in order to permanently remove the damage. You want to ensure the quality and longevity of the work, as on strassen.nrw.de can be read.

This renovation is part of an urgently needed upgrade of transport routes in Germany. The German Institute for Urban Studies (Difu) recently presented a comprehensive study on the investment needs in the transport system. The report points to a significant financial outlay: a need of around 372 billion euros is identified by 2030 to ensure both the maintenance and expansion of roads and rail networks. Almost every second road bridge in the municipalities has defects like this DStGB reported.

Residents and road users informed

Residents will be informed in good time about possible restrictions. The aim is to complete the construction work before the end of the summer holidays so that the B51 can be used again without restrictions. The focus is on the use of modern technologies and rapid construction in order to keep the disruption to road users as low as possible. It remains exciting to see how the work progresses and whether the plans can be adhered to.
