Christmas bike tour in Warendorf: lights for more bike traffic!
Things are moving forward in Warendorf! On December 5, 2025, the Cycling Round Table invites you to a Christmas bike tour under the motto “Critical Mass”. The aim of this special event is to promote cycling as a sensible alternative to private transport. In addition to the festive lights that many participants will attach to their bicycles, the focus will also be on discussing the current cycling situation.
The tour starts at 5 p.m. between the Ems bridges in front of Brinkhaus. As a successful surprise, the organizer offers free fairy lights to borrow, which is why early arrival - around fifteen minutes before the start - is recommended. The cycle route leads through the north and south of Warendorf, with participants having the opportunity to chat over a hot mulled wine on the market square after the ride.
Cycling in the Warendorf district
Unfortunately, the reality is often different: despite the high numbers, the cycle path network is still not ideal. In Warendorf there are significant gaps and unsafe spots on many main roads. The Cycling Round Table would like to see large participation in the tour in order to increase the pressure for necessary improvements.
- Anteil der Fahrten mit Verkehrsmitteln des Umweltverbundes: 45 %
- Anteil des Radverkehrs an den zurückgelegten Wegen: 28 % (Mobilitätsuntersuchung 2023)

Setting a strong example for cycling together – that is the motto for December 5th! Movement on two wheels is very important in Warendorf and beyond. In fact, the locations here are known for their diverse cycling tourism offerings that extend far beyond North Rhine-Westphalia. International rankings such as the Bicycle Cities Index also show rankings in which some cities around the world are praised for their bicycle-friendliness. This information is deeply noteworthy, so Warendorf could well benefit from the attention that the bike tour could attract in the coming days.
So take the opportunity to be part of this special initiative on December 5th and show with your bike and your creativity that cycling is alive in Warendorf! Will we see you on the track?
