From Wednesday, June 18th, there will be a comprehensive closure on the A46 between Wuppertal-Cronenberg and Haan-Ost. From 8 p.m. until Monday, June 23rd at 5 a.m., drivers will be forced to take large-scale diversions via the A1, A3, A40 and A52. This measure is being carried out as part of the renewal of protective barriers and the construction of a supporting structure for the construction of a new connecting ramp, as WDR reports.
The full closure affects both directions and is part of a comprehensive construction site that also includes the bridge that leads from the Wuppertal Kiesberg Tunnel to the A46 in the direction of Düsseldorf. Very important: The diversions are well signposted, but it is to be expected that there will be waiting times, especially on alternative regional routes, as the Wednesday before Corpus Christi is traditionally a day full of traffic jams.

However, this is not the only traffic disruption in North Rhine-Westphalia. From Friday evening to Sunday morning, the A2 between the Recklinghausen intersection and Herten will also be completely closed. Here too, a diversion via the A40 is recommended. The ADAC points out that over the weekend from June 20th to 22nd, many construction sites will be identified that could further challenge drivers.
