Bad Kreuznach celebrates colorful diversity: Intercultural weeks start!
Exciting times lie ahead in Bad Kreuznach on August 29, 2025! The city is preparing for the Intercultural Weeks 2025, which have the motto “We are ‘For it!’” and promote diversity, respect and an open society. This is an excellent opportunity to celebrate the coexistence of cultures while discussing relevant topics such as migration and integration. Bad Kreuznach reports that the opening festival will be celebrated on September 13th from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Kornmarkt.
What can visitors expect? A colorful program with intercultural dance, folklore and music groups as well as culinary specialties from all over the world. The Intercultural Weeks working group will also be there to present their initiatives and provide information about their activities. The focus will also be on dialogue about migration and flight, which reflects an essential aspect of today's society.
A rich program
The highlight of the Intercultural Weeks is undoubtedly the “Pack your brain!” campaign. on September 25th, which will take place in the pedestrian zone. Suitcase stations will be set up here to make the topics of escape and migration tangible. Visitors have the opportunity to talk to refugees and gain insights into the realities of their lives.
Another important contribution is Refugee Day on September 26th, which will feature a demonstration in front of the district administration under the motto “For human dignity and protection of refugees”. These events are not only an opportunity to discuss the challenges and opportunities of migration, but also help to strengthen social cohesion.
The municipal Kita Jungestrasse also invites you to a dialogue on September 25th and 26th with the motto “Shaping diversity – creating diversity”. Children's self-created works of art are exhibited here and international dishes are presented. There will be more interesting things at Günter Verheugen's lecture on September 27th in the Johanneskirche on “The Long Road to War – Russia, Ukraine and the West”.
An open ear for interreligious dialogue
In Germany, migration and refugee movements have long since become part of everyday life, which is also clear in church life. The Christian churches, such as the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD), are actively involved in shaping immigration and integration processes. Interreligious dialogue is of great importance in order to promote peaceful coexistence in a multi-religious society. Information about this can be found here.
The intercultural efforts in Bad Kreuznach are part of a larger trend in Germany where diversity is being used as an opportunity. The term “diversity” includes not only cultural differences, but also the respective similarities and their influence on social interaction. The Federal Agency for Civic Education provides information about this, how important it is to promote dialogue between different cultures.
This week of cultural exchange will not only be characterized by a festive setting, but also by a variety of activities and discussions that invite reflection on the topic of diversity. This makes the Intercultural Weeks in Bad Kreuznach an important platform for respectful coexistence between all cultures.
