Fire brigade leads the way: Bad Kreuznach is thrilled by the tree planting challenge!
There is currently a lot of planting going on in the Bad Kreuznach district! Around 50 fire departments took part in the tree planting challenge, which recently got rolling on social media. At least 50 new trees have already been planted in Bad Kreuznach alone, and new planting campaigns are being added every day. This movement aims to promote both climate protection and camaraderie among firefighters, and ensures a lively exchange among the participating departments.
For example, the Winterbach fire department planted a cherry tree in an exciting challenge. This action was impressively filmed and shared on social media. The principle behind the competition is mutual nomination: fire departments that are challenged must also plant a tree within 48 or 72 hours. Otherwise, they are threatened with inviting the challenging fire department to a barbecue, a particularly humorous and sociable way of compensating for the delay.
We have the green in mind
The idea of the tree planting challenge has its origins in the youth fire department and is based on other viral campaigns that have enjoyed great popularity in the past. Firefighters from almost all federal states, including North Rhine-Westphalia, Lower Saxony and Bavaria, are taking part. According to a report by Fire department magazine The exact rules and deadlines vary from region to region, which gives the campaign an exciting variety.
A nice example from the district is shown by the Freilingen firefighting group, which planted a cherry tree at Marienplatz. Their fire-fighting group leader, Thomas Renner, emphasizes that they wanted to offer something to the community and especially the children. Such personal motivations are what make the challenge even more appealing.
Fun for the community
Most teams complete the challenges on time and often document the planting activities in short videos. These not only increase the visibility of the fire departments, but could also help attract new members. The beauty of it? There is simply a lot of emphasis on having fun together, with the firefighters toasting with a beer after their work is done.
The tree planting challenge was not just limited to the fire departments, but also attracted other organizations such as ASB and DRK. This broad support is evidence of the positive response within the community. All firefighting districts in Bad Kreuznach planted five new trees together, and the Bad Kreuznach Nord firefighting district even saved a young ginkgo tree, which now stands proudly at the fire station.
Overall, it shows that the focus is on cohesion and enjoyment of the campaign, while at the same time making a significant contribution to climate protection. True to the motto: trees instead of fires!
