Ingelheim Harbor Festival: Fun and music despite African swine fever!
The Ingelheim Harbor Festival will be celebrated on the banks of the Rhine from July 25th to 27th, and despite the current warnings about African swine fever (ASF), the plans remain unchanged. Known for its diverse attractions, the event includes live music on two stages, arts and crafts, rides, a children's area and a wide range of food and drink stalls. As usual, entry is free and the festival grounds will not change, despite the protective fences that have been erected around the area to protect the animals. This reports Antenna KH.
These fences were set up due to the discovery of infected wild boars in the Rheingau-Taunus district in Hesse and on the Mariannenaue in the Rhine, which necessitated the need for a restrictive security concept. In particular, the Mainz-Bingen region was included in the measures to combat ASF, where a new exclusion zone was set up. This says ingelheim.de.
Older traditions meet new challenges
In recent years, ASF has caused considerable concern in Europe and infects both wild boars and farmed animals, almost always resulting in the death of the infected animals. So far, the outbreaks in Germany are considered to be under control; most recently the hotspots were in Brandenburg, Saxony and Hesse. The disease is harmless to humans bmel.de can be seen.
The Ingelheim Harbor Festival remains a sign of solidarity. The organizers appeal to visitors to respect the barriers and not to enter the area before the festival begins. The reigning “Father Rhine”, Philipp Weitzel, will officially open the festival on Friday evening at 6 p.m.
Unity against the ASP
Despite the special circumstances under which the festival has to take place, there are no restrictions on stand space and attractions. This means the offering remains varied and rich as usual, even in times like these. The installation of electric fences should also ensure that the wild boars do not move between the Rhine and the hinterland.
Visitors to the festival are warmly invited to enjoy the regional delicacies and the musical supporting program. There is further information about the event on the official harbor festival website at www.ikum-ingelheim.de/hafenfest/.
There is great interest and anticipation for the harbor festival, and despite all the difficulties, the region shows solidarity and lively. One thing is clear: the sense of community is maintained even in difficult times!
