Christmas initiative in the Donnersberg district: Help for families in need!

When temperatures drop in the run-up to Christmas, the need for help often increases. Many families in the Donnersberg district face enormous financial challenges that often remain hidden in the darkness of social perception. Every year, the Donnersberg Initiative supports people in need by distributing shopping vouchers and cash before Christmas. Chairman Jamill Sabbagh emphasizes that help should come directly to those affected without a lot of bureaucracy. Families with children who cannot afford basic things such as a new washing machine in particular receive valuable support here. According to a report by the Rhine Palatinate the campaign met with great interest.

This year the Donnersberger Initiative's Christmas campaign has a special star. The renewed necessary restrictions due to a lockdown have led to the closure of the food bank. This has led the initiative to extend its support to Tafel customers who are particularly hard hit by the impacts. In addition to food vouchers worth 50 euros each, children also receive vouchers for clothing or shoes worth 30 euros. This year, these aid packages will be distributed impersonally via mailboxes; a measure that results from the requirements of social distancing. Despite these adversities, the initiative sends clear Christmas wishes for health and hope for a return to normality, as on its website noted.

Important help for those in need

Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe, a renowned aid organization, also supports people in financial need. Loud Johanniter Donations are used particularly efficiently where they are needed most. The organization attaches great importance to transparency and control of the use of funds. Regular audits by independent institutions, such as the German Central Institute for Social Issues (DZI), guarantee that donations are handled responsibly. The organization has had the DZI donation seal since 2004, which is further proof of the charity of its projects.

The Christmas season is often characterized by happy moments, but for many people in the Donnersberg district it remains a big challenge. Corona-related restrictions have made it difficult for many to make ends meet. It is therefore more important than ever that citizens support the work of the Donnersberger Initiative through donations or voluntary help. Every contribution, no matter how small, can make a big difference and enable someone to have a merry Christmas.
