European Folklore Festival: A celebration of cultures in Bitburg!
The city of Bitburg is about to experience a summer highlight, as the eagerly awaited European Folklore Festival will take place from July 11th to 14th, 2025. This festival promises a true feast for the senses – ideal for music and dance enthusiasts as well as families. Under the motto “Experience Europe’s cultural diversity up close,” the city opens its doors to visitors from near and far.
Guests can expect an extensive program of international music and dance performances on several stages in the city center. From local dance and music clubs to rock, pop and jazz bands to performances by groups from countries such as Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Ireland, Italy and Slovakia, there is something for every taste. This cultural mix brings a very special atmosphere to the city of Bitburg, which looks forward to showcasing the diversity of Europe.
The colorful program
Particular attention is paid to the children's folklore festival, which will bring joy to the youngest visitors. On the first night of the festival, Friday, the bands Monalex and “Die barmfühlen Plateausohlen” really heat up the Spittel. For Phil Collins fans there is a tribute band called “Still Collins” that performs at the “Green Lake”. And don't forget: the official tapping of the barrel at 8 p.m. - a highlight that you shouldn't miss!
Saturday will be the highlight of the weekend with live music from 12:00 p.m. on the Spittel and a children's folklore festival in the afternoon. If you like it fast, you can look forward to the Taylor Swift tribute band at 9 p.m., followed by DJ Karsten, who will keep the atmosphere going until midnight. A very special tradition is the 43rd Bitburger beer barrel rolling at 1:30 p.m., which delights both locals and guests.
Family friendly attractions
For the little festival visitors, there are numerous rides and attractions in the amusement park that will make the family's heart beat faster. Sanitary facilities can be found in various locations such as the Bitburger Stadthalle and the festival grounds, including barrier-free toilets and baby changing facilities. There is sufficient parking space, with underground car parks and other areas open on event days.
A ceremonial entry of the nations will take place on Saturday evening in the Bitburger Stadthalle, where the municipal music association will also perform. Starting at 7:30 p.m., groups will perform their national anthems, followed by an exciting folklore show. The festival will end on Monday with a performance by the formation “Zentury XX” at the “Green Lake”.
