Children's festival in Germersheim: games, fun and the first children's run!
Last Saturday, the Fronte Lamotte city park in Germersheim shone in the colorful garb of the 18th International Children's Festival. From 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., the park became a huge playground where both big and small children could enjoy an exciting program. Organized by the committed Frauke Vos-Firnkes and supported by numerous clubs, business people and institutions such as the water police and the volunteer fire department, the festival offered a wealth of activities and fun for the whole family. Many visitors enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and the diverse offerings.
The program ranged from face painting and games of skill to an impressive free fall facility and a huge slide. There was also something for the little “bargain hunters”: a children's flea market invited them to browse and buy. Another highlight was the letter scavenger hunt, in which the participating children could win prizes that were awarded during the festival. All attractions contributed to an unforgettable atmosphere and ensured that children's eyes lit up.
First children's run causes excitement
New this year was the children's run, which took place in close cooperation with the Free Christian Community of Germersheim. Mayor Marcus Schaile and the mascot “Lamottchen” opened the run, which was divided into two age groups. At 11:30 a.m., the 6 to 8 year olds started on an approximately 400 meter long route, followed by the 9 to 11 year olds, who had to complete a lap of approximately 950 meters. Each participant received great praise: everyone ran to applause from the audience and received a certificate, while the first four in each group were even rewarded with additional prizes.
A variety of food and a varied stage program
Of course, the food couldn't be missed either! Visitors young and old were able to feast on a selection of delicacies - from cotton candy and waffles to bratwursts and Moroccan and oriental specialties. Your physical well-being was therefore well taken care of. In addition, there were various performances by local clubs on the show stage of the radio station “Die Neue Welle”, which enriched the festival with music and dance.
With the wide range of offerings and the high number of visitors, the International Children's Festival in Germersheim is a great opportunity for families to celebrate together and exchange ideas.
