A dangerous incident occurred on Friday evening, June 13, 2025, on Autobahn 61 between the Emmelshausen and Metternich junctions in the northbound direction. A 27-year-old, who was allegedly under the influence of narcotics, ignored police stop signals and fled in a dark Hyundai. This was reported by the Rhine newspaper.

Escape and arrest
The driver's escape ended when he finally parked his car on the shoulder and escaped on foot over a fence into an adjacent field. But the police didn't give up: with the support of a helicopter, the fleeing driver was quickly located and arrested - without resistance.
The driver's legal situation is extremely precarious. Not only does he not have a valid driving license, but the police also took a blood sample from him to check for drug influence. The vehicle was impounded and fortunately there were no known injuries or property damage during the incident.
