Fairness in football: Award ceremony delights Kaiserslautern!
In Kaiserslautern, honoring the district's fairest football teams recently became a big celebration. The event took place in a festive setting in the Teutonic Order Hall of the Sparkasse Kaiserslautern and brought together players, club representatives and sponsors. Not only certificates and footballs were on the table, but also the fair play prizes from the savings banks, which this year were endowed with a total of almost 10,000 euros. This award is now being presented jointly by the Kaiserslautern-Donnersberg and Kusel-Kaiserslautern football districts for the second year in a row, as the Rheinpfalz reports.
The ambitious goal of this event is to celebrate fair play and incentivize teams to play by the rules. In addition to the sports awards, there were also critical voices: Some clubs have to expect repeated fines because negligent behavior can have negative consequences. “Fair play and sporting success are not mutually exclusive,” said Udo Schöneberger, the district chairman, and encouraged the teams to maintain their integrity.
The award winners in detail
The fair play rating is characterized not only by the consideration of yellow and red cards, but also by respect for opponents and referees, as well as the behavior of the spectators. A greater fair play rating, for example, has a positive impact on qualifying for international tournaments - and is essential in football today, as highlighted on 100 Football.
The winning teams in the various classes were chosen by Günther Bolinius, CEO of Sparkasse Donnersberg. Special praise went to FV Kriegsfeld from the men's category and TSG Kaiserslautern from the women's category, who regularly receive awards for their fair play. A beer to finish
The evening came to a convivial end with the offer of beer to celebrate fair play ideas. Thomas Hintermeier from Kreissparkasse Kusel reminded us that fairness has meaning far beyond the pitch and benefits not only the teams, but also society. The anniversary event to mark the 30th anniversary of the Fair Play competition is already being planned for 2026. It remains to be hoped that the spirit of fair play remains alive in our region and that the joy of football can develop sustainably.
