Theater highlight: Run bike, run” – Drais' legacy live in Kusel!

Next week, the Chawwerusch Theater will bring the family play “Run, Bike, Run” to Kusel. The performance will take place on Sunday, November 9th, at 3 p.m. in the Horst-Eckel-Haus. This exciting play highlights the life stories of the inventor Karl Drais, who is known for his innovative transport solutions, especially the balance bike. The plot is not only entertaining, but also addresses important questions surrounding the climate crisis and the power of small creative ideas, which makes viewers think. According to the Rheinpfalz, the piece has been offered in the theater's repertoire since 2021.

Author Jean-Michel Räber and director Andreas Krüger have staged a captivating story that revolves around a single father, his daughter Amalia and his son Karl. In addition, a flashback looks at the famine year of 1816 with the consequences of the eruption of the Tambora volcano in Indonesia. Drais developed new, creative solutions in a time of drought.

A creative production

The performance surprises with innovative elements, including a light show that complements what is happening on stage. A mix of slapstick and comic elements creates an entertaining experience that is reminiscent of “Max & Moritz”. The actors not only perform, but also comment on their own stage directions in order to playfully overcome the boundaries of space and time.

Creative props are used, such as a floor piano that acts as a frozen lake and a hat that acts as a hot air balloon. The piece is suitable for children aged ten and over and has a running time of around 75 minutes. Tickets are available at the citizens' office of the Kusel district administration as well as by phone and online.
