Worrying alcohol experiment: 57-year-old stopped with 2.46 per mille!
A shocking incident occurred on Thursday, November 6, 2025, when a 57-year-old man drove his black VW Tiguan in conspicuous serpentine lines on the L544 between Barbelroth and Steinfeld. According to Wochenblatt Reporter, the police stopped the vehicle on a dirt road between Deutschhof and Kapellen. A breath alcohol test showed an alarming concentration of 2.46 per mille. This means more than five times the maximum permissible limit for drivers in Germany, which is considered an administrative offense from 0.5 per mille.
The officers took a blood sample from the driver on site to confirm the exact values. In addition, the police found several recent accident damages to the VW Tiguan, particularly on the left side of the front bumper and the left exterior mirror. The impact height marking was between 115 and 119 cm, indicating a possible accident.
Police call for witnesses
Police are appealing for any information from witnesses who may have witnessed the incident or a possible accident. Anyone interested can contact the Bad Bergzabern police station on 06343 93341402.
Drunk driving is not only dangerous for the driver, but also for other road users. The ADAC points out that a relative inability to drive is assumed from a blood alcohol level of 0.3. If you have a blood alcohol level of 1.1 or more, you are legally considered to be completely unfit to drive, which is a punishable offense and can lead to an immediate revocation of your driving license.
The legal consequences
There is even an absolute ban on alcohol for novice drivers during their probationary period. In the event of a violation, you not only face high fines, but also points in the driving fitness register and the obligation to take part in an advanced seminar. If the driver denies being drunk during the inspection and refuses to take a breath alcohol test, a blood sample could be taken. This shows how serious the consequences of driving under the influence are.
The situation is particularly dangerous not only for the driver, but also for other road users who are put in danger by their careless behavior. It is therefore important to keep a clear head on every journey and to use alcohol responsibly. The current situation surrounding the VW Tiguan driver reminds us all of how quickly life can be changed through careless actions.
