Something exciting is happening in Offenbach: The youngest fundraisers for the VOR-TOUR der Hope e.V. are getting down to business. Rudi and Ursula Birkmeyer's grandchildren are currently visiting their grandparents and are busy helping with the preparations for the upcoming bike tour. Ella, 13 years old, has already designed a donation check that will be presented on Friday. Together with her seven-year-old nephew Maximilian, she sorts the raffle prizes and tirelessly labels the 800 bottles of Pinot Gris donated by the Müller winery in Frankweiler.
The work is constantly interrupted because Ella has to go to the TV Essingen dress rehearsal at 5:00 p.m. sharp. This dress rehearsal is important for the big performance on Friday, July 4th, at the Offenbach stop. It's easy to see her excitement as she talks about the upcoming raffle with shining eyes. The children are looking forward to the ticket sale and are hoping for a large donation amount that will be used for children with cancer. Ella made an urgent appeal to the community: “Please support this important project!”
PRE-TOUR of hope – a matter of the heart for many
The PRE-TOUR of Hope has become significantly more important in recent years. Jürgen Grünwald, the organization manager, emphasizes that around 100 cyclists are taking part in this valuable campaign. The beginnings of the VOR-TOUR lie in the idea of two friends who wanted to cycle to the prologue of the “Tour of Hope” in Giessen. Since its inception, the event has developed into a popular event, and more and more individual activities have come together under its umbrella to strengthen the community for a good cause. Vortour der Hope reports that this initiative generates significant donations.
The “Tour of Hope” itself has been an annual summer highlight since 1983, in which cyclists ride through various regions of Germany and collect donations for children and young people suffering from cancer. With the focus on caring for and supporting these children, the event has developed into one of the most important charity events in Germany. The funds collected flow to children's hospitals, hospices and research projects and thus make an indispensable contribution to improving the quality of life of affected families.
The final decision as to how high the amount will be this year remains to be seen. Until then, we keep our fingers crossed for the dedicated collectors and hope for a big wave of support from the public. It is a unique opportunity to advocate for children who urgently need help.
