Creative for a good cause: Melmer knitting group lights up St. James Church!
On Sunday, September 6th, a creative event that brought the community together took place in front of the Protestant St. Mark's Church in Ludwigshafen. The Melm knitting group presented handmade knitwear and small gift ideas there. Scarves, decorative accessories and original little things attracted many visitors. The proceeds from this colorful flea market were generously donated to the Jakobuskirche e.V. support association in order to advance the ambitious project of new church lighting. How MRN News reported, the group leader, Ms. Jowanka Varga, handed over the donation to the first chairwoman of the association, Ms. Brigitte Roos.
“This is an important step towards realizing our lighting project,” explained Roos, who has actively supported the association since its founding. The support association has set itself the task of preserving and maintaining the Jakobuskirche in Ludwigshafen-Oggersheim. The association is still urgently dependent on donations, which is why account information is also available for support: IBAN: DE16 6709 0000 0097 5202 08.
New board and events
The newly elected board of directors of the support association, which was appointed on April 16, 2023, also offers a solid basis. The first chairwoman Brigitte Roos leads the association together with second chairwoman Dieter Wendt and cashier Anja Hambsch, supported by other members such as secretary Gabriele Nowak and public relations worker Christoph Roos. How Weekly newspaper reporter reported, the association is well positioned to continue to hold numerous events that promote the preservation of the church.
Numerous community events will take place throughout the year, including a spring bazaar, a Thanksgiving community festival and a Christmas concert featuring traditional music. Income from these events flows into the association's projects, which can only be realized through financial resources from donations and community support. This support is particularly inspired by the tradition of collection in the church, as can be seen from the remarks of EKD emerges.
A call for financial support for the Jakobuskirche is also more than timely, because, as in many other parishes, renovations and maintenance measures are often only possible through the initiative of support associations and donations. Following the words of the Apostle Paul, it is important to provide help and support to those in need. St. James' Church is crying out for new lighting, and the community is ready to make a significant contribution to this.
