Ludwigshafen celebrates summer: STRE & Co. secures space for kids!

The anticipation for the summer holidays in Ludwigshafen is increasing! The city administration has already completed the planning for the popular holiday program “STRE & Co. – Your Summer in LU”. From July 7th to August 15th, children aged six to eleven can take part in a variety of exciting activities. First of all, registration for the program is still open - more information can be found at lu4u.de.

The four-week journey of discovery on the Große Blies goes under the motto “Recreation on the outskirts of the city”. Almost 550 children have already registered here, but there are still a few remaining places available. The tradition of this holiday care goes back over 90 years, and now the little ones can look forward to a colorful program.

Offers and activities for all ages

In addition to the central outskirts recreation, there are also numerous decentralized offerings available in the various parts of the city. Children aged ten to 14 have the opportunity to actively participate in the Melm, Ernst-Bloch youth leisure centers and the Westend youth club. These larger participants can organize the excursions and programs independently, which not only gives them responsibility but also a lot of fun!

The portfolio of activities is large and ranges from sporting activities such as slackline, beach volleyball and trampoline jumping to creative workshops and nature exploration. As part of this program, children can even enjoy an alpaca hike through the vineyards, while adventures such as wooden ship building await on the park island at the Ludwig Wolker leisure center.

Another highlight is the adventure playground, where children can build to their hearts' content and even cook in the new wood-burning oven. Water features and slush ice from our own ice machine provide the necessary cooling on hot days.

Care and food

Support is provided by a dedicated team of volunteers and experienced specialists who are on duty daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For working parents, there is early care from 8 a.m., and a balanced meal with lunch and snacks is also guaranteed. The children's needs are taken into account and a healthy diet is ensured.

The offers are not just designed for the little ones. Young people between the ages of ten and 14 can look forward to special programs that include exciting activities such as archery, media workshops and graffiti campaigns. The teenagers can relax together with billiards, table football or listening to music.

Rhineland-Palatinate supports this event and ensures that the children have an unforgettable experience. The program shines with its versatility and creativity, so there is something for everyone. Without a doubt, a good hand was demonstrated here!

The official starting signal for “STRE & Co” is planned for July 26th, and the mayor and representatives of the Technical Works Ludwigshafen (TWL) will accompany the day in the Edigheim youth leisure center. An exciting and, if possible, shadow-free experience for everyone, even and especially in persistent heat! So if you want to spend your summer vacation with your loved ones in a meaningful and eventful way, you shouldn't hesitate too long. Registration is still possible until the first days of the holidays!
