Palatinate Festival opens: cheers, rides and beer for everyone!
The Palatinate Festival in Ludwigshafen, the city's largest folk festival, opened its doors today. Mayor Jutta Steinruck gave the celebratory start to a spectacle that not only attracts numerous visitors, but also offers a wide range of rides and culinary highlights. The atmosphere in the beer and wine village is exuberant, where regional breweries such as Haubrauerei Mayer and Eichbaum Brewery offer their specialties. A fresh beer is always the right choice here.
From June 7th to 16th, 2024, the Palatinate Festival will be held in its form for the third time. A total of six new rides are waiting to be tested by adrenaline fans. The highlights include the breathtaking “White Star” Ferris wheel, the fast-paced Big Splash wild water ride and the exciting Robotix looping ride, which are already causing excitement. The Ghost Villa ghost train also leaves no visitor indifferent and provides spooky and beautiful experiences.
A celebration for all generations
The program doesn't just include the numerous rides. Things get interesting from a culinary point of view with a historic school bus that functions as a wine bar and a stand with rustic breads from Rustipani's wood-fired oven. Another highlight are the burger specialties that pamper the palate. On opening day, visitors were even able to ride all the rides for free, while the tapping of a keg of beer at 6 p.m. heralded a boozy evening, followed by a performance by the band WHO2Ladies and a spectacular fireworks display at 10:30 p.m.
The special theme days are particularly popular, such as Family Day on June 12th, where reduced prices apply. The Ladies Night on June 13th, where women can travel for half price, also attracts many female festival visitors. If the weather is good, the balloon glow on June 10th and 11th is another attraction not to be missed. Here, 10 to 12 hot air balloons will light up the evening sky.
Visitor numbers in focus
Folk festivals are very popular throughout Germany. According to a survey by YouGov published on Statista, the number of visitors to such festivals is continuously increasing. Access to the statistics is possible until June 19, 2025, although you must register in order to use individual functions.
In order to ensure a comfortable arrival and departure for visitors, Rhein-Neckar-Verkehrs GmbH has increased rail operations on the weekends. So nothing stands in the way of a carefree visit to the festival!
The Palatinate Festival promises a varied program and a great ambience for both adrenaline junkies and connoisseurs. So, let’s go and celebrate the festival!
