Burkhardt transfer to Eintracht: Is the million-dollar deal coming?

The summer break offers scope for fresh transfer rumors, and Eintracht Frankfurt is in its final stages of considerable squad planning. The transfer market officially opens on July 1st and the Hessians are prepared to strike hard. Loud Express Eintracht has one of the largest budgets at its disposal, especially due to the possible departure of Hugo Ekitiké, who is highly sought after on the transfer market.

Sports boss Markus Krösche has targeted Jonathan Burkhardt from Mainz 05 and there is already agreement between Burkhardt and the Frankfurt team. However, the big uncertainty remains the transfer fee. The last offer was between 18 and 20 million euros, but Frankfurt apparently wants to go up to the pain threshold of 25 million euros to sign the striker. Mainz is trying to get the most out of the negotiations, while Burkhardt has already announced that he would like to leave the club if there is a suitable offer.

Coveted newcomers and rivalry

An interesting facet in this transfer story is the relationship between the fans of Mainz and Frankfurt. While Eintracht doesn't really see the games against Mainz as a derby, historically the rivalry has never been strong. For Burkhardt, a move to Frankfurt would be anything but a nightmare. It can be assumed that he would not be hated or booed by the Mainz fans. In Frankfurt he is also viewed as a regional player, which should mitigate the possible fan reaction.

Eintracht also continues to keep an eye on other potential newcomers. St. Pauli's Igor Matanovic is on the list, with a price tag of around €10 million. Other candidates include Ritsu Doan from Freiburg and Victor Froholdt from Copenhagen. Things will be particularly exciting in goal: Kevin Trapp remains number one, while Jens Grahl acts as interim number two.

Hugo Ekitiké could be sent to Manchester United for around 100 million euros, which would further improve the financial possibilities for Eintracht. Squad planning for the coming season is already taking shape, while fans are eagerly awaiting developments in the transfer market. In recent years, Eintracht have proven that they have a knack for transfers and it remains to be seen what other surprises the club has in store this summer.
