Explosion in Bad Kreuznach: Serious injuries and house collapsed!
On November 8, 2025, the Bosenheim district of Bad Kreuznach experienced a dramatic incident that put residents on alert. According to the Bad Kreuznach volunteer fire department, a deafening bang occurred around half past twelve that could be heard far beyond the city limits. The explosion of an apartment resulted in a large part of the left wall of the house being literally blown away and landing in the garden. Numerous emergency calls were received in the area: the echoes of the explosion were felt within a radius of around ten kilometers.
The emergency services were immediately alerted with a large contingent. Over 40 firefighters arrived to help those affected. Plainclothes firefighters and residents of the house managed to bring a bedridden person from the first floor to safety on a blanket. The source of the fire itself was on the first floor of the apartment building, which was severely damaged by the explosion.
Limited returns and injuries
A 31-year-old man suffered serious burn injuries in the incident and had to be transported to a special clinic. Three other residents were also taken to hospital with minor injuries. The remaining residents were uninjured, but were unable to return to their homes and were temporarily placed with friends or family. The damaged building is now uninhabitable and a construction expert from the Federal Agency for Technical Relief has been commissioned to assess the damage. The investigation into the cause of the explosion is still ongoing. In particular, indications of a possible gas explosion or technical defects are being examined, as BYC News reports.
If only the explosion and the associated damage weren't enough, there was also a small ray of hope: a black cat named "Mio", which went missing during the chaotic events, was found under a couch and returned unharmed to its owner. It shows once again that small miracles can happen even in such tragic situations.
Fire brigade deployment and follow-up extinguishing work
The fire brigade acted quickly and under heavy respiratory protection. They forced their way into the building to make sure no one was left behind. Thanks to the professional and quick work of the emergency services, they were able to bring the situation under control after about two hours and finally had most of the fire brigade personnel withdraw. However, some units remained on site to ensure security and carry out follow-up work.
Overall, the incident did not go unnoticed in the city. Such explosions not only raise questions about the safety and structural inspection of residential structures, but also create topics of conversation among residents. The hope is now that the cause will be clarified quickly and the affected people will be able to return to their homes soon.
