Construction festival on August 30th: fun and sport for the whole family!
Something is happening in Cologne: On Saturday, August 30, 2025, the large construction and festival program will be celebrated on the State Garden Show site on Branchweilerhofstrasse. After about a year of intensive construction work, the first stage is now officially opening. Free entry from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. attracts families and friends to celebrate and be amazed.
The new sports landscape, which is to be created in the next few months, will be a highlight of the site. Four sports fields, a bouldering wall and a work-out facility are planned. For younger visitors there is a varied program with fun and games, such as a bouncy castle, sand play opportunities and a colorful Bunjee trampoline, although this is subject to a charge. Entertainment is guaranteed for every child here.
Program highlights and attractions
The “Thundergirls” from Tanzmanufaktur Neustadt, who have fought for their place among the German hip hop champions, start at 12 p.m. At 1.30 p.m. the young dancers from the children's dance school will show off their skills. Jonny Karacho will provide a musical atmosphere at 3 p.m. with his children's songs. In addition, guided tours of the Panorama Mountain are offered regularly, where you can enjoy the wonderful view at 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
The wind installations along the climb to the panoramic mountain offer a special experience, complemented by the impressive kites that the artist Anke Sauer will present in flight (depending on the weather). As part of the festival, there will also be information tents where visitors can talk to LGS event manager Rebecca Siemoneit-Barum and other guests.
Culinary offerings and parking options
Of course, the culinary delights will not be neglected. Hamburgers, vegetarian burgers, pizza and bratwurst, among other things, await hungry visitors at a large food truck area. Drinks from Pälzer Buwe and a coffee and sweets stand provide refreshments. There are convenient parking options for all drivers next to “Bienes Imbiss”.
Take the chance and be part of this colorful festival that will delight young and old. Whether watching the dance performances or trying out the various activities - there is something for every taste here. As the weekly Reporter reports, you can look forward to a real festival for the whole family on the State Garden Show grounds!
