Marc Weigel re -elected Mayor of Neustadt with 80%!

On Sunday, June 15, 2025, Marc Weigel was re -elected by the Free Voting Community (FWG) with a considerable 79.7 percent of the votes as the mayor of Neustadt an der Weinstraße. His only challenge, the non -party Steffi Karbach, received 20.3 percent of the vote, which secured Weigel's election victory in an exciting and less surprising competition. The turnout was only 37 percent, which means that around 42,000 eligible voters were called to the urn and thus showing a visible interest in local politics, although this number is rather inconspicuous compared to other elections, as Statista.

Marc Weigel, who was served as the mayor of Neustadt since 2018 and was born in the city in 1979, has already digitized and restructured the administration in his previous term. Important projects such as improving disaster protection and the conversion of the station forecourt have made progress under its leadership. After the election, Weigel thanked the citizens for their trust and was determined to remedy the renovation backlog in the infrastructure. "We have to create more modern schools and better roads," he said in a first statement, such as SWR.
