Right-wing extremist incidents in schools are increasing rapidly: Alarming data!
The worrying numbers of right-wing extremist incidents in schools cannot be ignored. According to a recent report by stern.de Statistics for 2025 tend to exceed last year's already alarming record highs. In several federal states, the number of right-wing extremist crimes in schools has risen sharply, and this shows that there is an urgent need for action.
Baden-Württemberg has already counted 65 right-wing extremist incidents by the end of September 2025, which is more than the 53 cases in all of 2024. In Berlin, 95 crimes were reported in the first ten months of the year, an average of almost 11 per month. The situation is similar in Hesse, where 105 incidents were detected, while the previous year ended with 167 cases. In Rhineland-Palatinate, the police counted 39 incidents by the end of August, which can hardly be seen as a decrease compared to just 45 in the entire previous year.
Worrying trends
However, the situation is most noticeable in Brandenburg, where 216 right-wing extremist crimes were recorded in schools by October. The records show that the monthly average level in Brandenburg is already 24, compared to 28 last year. These developments are not isolated and are in the context of a nationwide increase. According to that Protection of the Constitution Right-wing extremist potential grew to a total of 50,250 people in 2024, an increase of 9,650 people compared to the previous year.
The figures show that right-wing extremist crimes rose by 47.4 percent to 37,835 crimes in 2024, while violent crimes increased by 11.6 percent. This shows that society needs to be reminded, not just at school, of the importance of resisting such trends.
Uniform data collection required
The statistics tracking these incidents are surprisingly inconsistent. In seven federal states there are no specific records of right-wing extremist incidents in schools. This means that a complete comparison between countries is difficult. In addition, these incidents are not anchored in a separate category in the statistics of the criminal police reporting service, which makes the situation even more confusing.
The clear request to all those responsible: It is crucial to collect clear and reliable figures in order to take targeted action against right-wing extremist movements. This is also a top priority in the context of increasing violence and ever-growing social tensions. It is up to us to take the problem seriously and take appropriate measures to protect our schools and therefore our society.
