Burglars struck in Speyer: bakery and residential building in their sights!
There is currently a feeling of insecurity in Speyer - burglars seem to be particularly active in the dark season. On Saturday evening, between 5:30 and 5:45 p.m., unknown people tried to break into a residential building on Ginsterweg. Fortunately, alert residents noticed the attempt to push up the roller shutters, so there was no break-in. But this incident is just part of a worrying trend in the region. Loud Rhine Palatinate Burglaries and attempted break-ins are increasing in the area.
Last week there was also a break-in at a bakery on Lauergasse. During a period between Tuesday, November 4th at 1 p.m. and Wednesday, November 5th at approximately 5 a.m., unknown persons broke into the bakery's office and escaped with cash amounting to 684 euros. The Speyer police station is now looking for witnesses who can provide relevant information. Anyone with information is asked to call 06232 1370 or email pispeyer@polizei.rlp.de.
Burglary statistics: A country with increasing numbers
The clearance rate for residential burglaries was 14.9% in 2023, while the overall rate for all crimes was 58.4%. What is particularly striking is that 42.9% of the burglaries solved are connected to foreign suspects. This is the highest percentage since records began.
