Cultural influences in the media world
But it's not just nature that attracts the crowds. The film world also takes up the theme of discovery. So has the successful film Barbie, released in 2023 under the direction of Greta Gerwig, reaches a whole new audience. In a story of self-discovery as Barbie and Ken explore the two worlds of Barbieland and the real world, the importance of finding your place in the world becomes clear. The film even made the box office ring with total grosses of $1.447 billion and enjoyed international recognition, including an award at the Oscars for Best Original Song.
The film's marketing strategies, as well as the “Barbenheimer” phenomenon that arose from its simultaneous release with Oppenheimer, show how closely cultural products are interconnected. These developments in the film industry not only open up new horizons, but also promote the examination of topics such as existentialism and social expectations.
So join us and enjoy an inspiring evening under the banner of the mountains, before perhaps watching a film about developing your own identity! Remember November 14th, Ready, Set, Go!
