E-car sharing is booming: four new communities are joining!

A lot is happening in the rapidly growing world of e-car sharing. From October 10th, the communities of Maikammer, Kirrweiler, Esthal and Elmstein have the opportunity to connect to the network of Deer GmbH from Calw. The Rheinpfalz reports that e-car sharing is increasingly gaining a foothold in rural regions, where it was previously mainly widespread in larger cities. In fact, e-car sharing is becoming increasingly popular - electric cars have been available in Deidesheim and Ruppertsberg since February 2023.

The new e-car sharing stations will officially go into operation at different times at different locations: In Maikammer it will start at 11 a.m., while Elmstein will open their stations at 12 p.m., Kirrweiler at 1 p.m. and Esthal at 2 p.m. According to the latest statistics from the Federal Association of Car Sharing e.V. (bcs), there are now around 45,400 car sharing vehicles available throughout Germany - an increase of 5.3 percent compared to the previous year. Vision Mobility explained that the service is now offered in 1,393 communities and that the number of communities with car sharing offers has grown by 8.4 percent.

E-car sharing as a solution for rural mobility

Deer GmbH, which was founded in 2019 and is a subsidiary of Energie Calw GmbH, specializes in creating sustainable mobility solutions. Their portfolio includes over 600 fully electric vehicles, which are available at more than 400 locations in southern Germany. It's about making a contribution to reducing land consumption and climate-damaging emissions through modern e-car sharing. While some rural areas are still struggling, Deer is a fast pioneer as the largest provider of e-car sharing in rural areas in Germany.

Thanks to innovative technologies such as CloudBoxx, which enables keyless access to the cars, the booking process is not only digitized but also significantly simplified. Press portal” highlights that, among other things, the user-friendliness and technological robustness of the fleet contribute to high vehicle availability. Over 29,000 customers have already registered to become part of this mobility revolution.

The influence of car sharing on traffic

Car sharing is not only perceived as convenient and cost-effective, but also as a crucial tool for combating climate impacts. Without car sharing services, an additional 174,600 vehicles would be necessary in Germany, which would raise alarm as this would take up around 1.9 million square meters of parking space. This area could be used to improve quality of life and provide space for green living. The environmentally friendly solutions make the e-car sharing service a popular alternative to private cars and help reduce traffic congestion.

The signs of the times point to change: E-car sharing is increasingly becoming a part of everyday traffic in our region and beyond. With the continuous expansion of the e-car sharing network and a considerable number of e-cars, the future of mobility may soon be found at one of the new locations in Maikammer, Kirrweiler, Esthal or Elmstein.
