Heat protection in view: online lecture on a cool living atmosphere!
In recent years, the summer heat has not only caused heat stroke, but also unpleasant temperatures in our living spaces. Which solution approach can be helpful here is the focus of the online lecture “Cooler living – what to do about the heat?”, which will be offered on July 15th from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The event is organized by the Südliche Weinstraße district and the association municipalities. The aim of the lecture is to take preventive action against overheated living environments and to show concrete options for action. The lecture will, among other things, deal with the generation of heat in residential buildings, effective heat reduction methods and shading options for living spaces. Topics such as insulation of the building envelope and green roofs or facades are also covered. A question and answer session after the lecture allows participants to clarify individual concerns. Anyone interested should register by July 15th at 12 p.m. to take part in the lecture via teams. Registration takes place via the district website: suedliche-weinstrasse.de.
Heat is not just a temporary problem; Not only people but also buildings are increasingly suffering from this. Widespread warm periods lead to above-average indoor temperatures. This means that around 19 million residential buildings and around 21 million non-residential buildings in particular need to be better protected from the heat. Climate-adapted construction plays a crucial role here, as the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Construction (BMWSB) and the Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning (BBSR) emphasize. The latter not only analyzes the risks of the existing building stock, but also develops innovative solutions to meet the challenges of climate change. An interdisciplinary exchange between universities, institutes and practical experts helps to clarify complex issues and develop practical solutions. Further information can be found on the BMWSB website, which compiles comprehensive approaches to improving the built environment here.
Corporate responsibility in climate change
Not only do living conditions need to be adapted, companies also have a responsibility to deal with the consequences of climate change. A current study by bifa and the Ludwig Maximilians University shows that many companies are already aware of the inevitable climatic changes. This primarily includes temperature changes and extreme weather conditions such as storms or floods. The results support companies in examining their adaptive capacities and developing necessary measures to increase resilience. The practical applicability of these ideas was presented in comprehensive events in Augsburg and Erding and is summarized in a guide on bifa.de can be found.
The topic of heat protection will become more important in the coming years. There is growing awareness that both private individuals and companies need to take action to counter the consequences of climate change. In this regard, all citizens and companies are invited to find out about the latest developments and solutions and to actively participate.
