Closure of the main road in Heltersberg: Major expansion continues!
The expansion of state road 499 in Heltersberg is progressing and at the same time creating traffic challenges. The third construction phase currently underway has begun and extends from Schulstrasse to Seebergstrasse. This emerges from the current information from Rheinpfalz, which also points to the planned renewal of the turning area to Seebergstraße in the direction of Geiselberg. The entire area is a joint project between the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, the municipality of Heltersberg and the Verbandsgemeindewerke Waldfischbach-Burgalben.
The expansion route to the festival hall is currently passable, but the intersection area of Hauptstrasse/Seebergstrasse will soon be closed. The work in the second construction phase is almost complete, and those responsible are pleased that the third construction phase will begin on Monday, May 26th. Because the construction work will require extensive diversions, it is advisable to consider alternative routes. The large-scale diversion leads via the K 31 to Geiselberg and the B 270 to Steinalben, then via the B 270 to the L 501 to Waldfischbach-Burgalben and back. The total cost of the measures amounts to around 2.3 million euros, with the company F.K. Horn from Kaiserslautern was commissioned to carry out the work.
Traffic flow and diversions
The Rhineland-Palatinate Mobility Atlas offers valuable support for all road users. This platform provides comprehensive data and information on transport infrastructure, including construction sites in the country, the results of traffic counts and even accident hotspots. According to information from the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Economic Affairs, Transport, Agriculture and Viticulture, citizens can receive up-to-date information on traffic-related matters and adapt their routes accordingly. You can find out more about the mobility atlas here.
Those responsible would like to thank the road users and affected residents for their understanding during this necessary work. Although the period of restrictions is challenging, the improvements will ultimately benefit the entire community. The expansion is ultimately intended to ensure better traffic flow and greater road safety.
Further information can be found in the official announcements of the construction sites and current developments, which are continually updated. You can read more about this on the website of the State Office for Mobility: LBM Rhineland-Palatinate.
