New youth and guest house in Trier: A meeting point for visions of the future!

The youth and guest house of the Diocese of Trier is getting ready for an exciting move to the city center of Trier. Instead of in the Robert Schuman House, from August 15, 2025, groups and guests will be warmly welcomed in the new “Clementinum” on the grounds of the seminary. Youth pastor Peter Zillgen runs the house and emphasizes that the vision of a meeting place with a wide range of content is in the foreground. “The aim is to create a space where young people can meet and learn together,” said Zillgen when presenting the project, as reported by lokalo.de.

The new home for the young guests will offer a total of 60 beds in modern two- and three-bed rooms as well as a large dormitory with space for up to 12 people. Each room is equipped with a private bathroom, making your stay even more pleasant. Another construction phase is being planned, which will create an additional 14 beds. A variety of meal options are available to guests, including full board or bed and breakfast.

Diverse offers for young people

The “Clementinum” not only offers overnight accommodation, but also offers a wide range of leisure and educational activities. The future leisure activities include, among other things, a leisure room, a bowling alley, spacious seminar rooms and a chapel. To encourage spending time outdoors, the outdoor area will be redesigned next year. The focus here should be on activities that involve playing, learning and moving in nature. Inclusion, democracy education and strengthening group and individual skills are the focus of the offerings, as the website of the Youth Diocese of Trier highlights.

The team of the new youth center consists of six committed members who take care of different areas: In addition to Peter Zillgen, who leads the development and theological offerings, Jacqueline Maron and Christiane Herrig are responsible for the pedagogical management and the support of groups. Theater educational activities are offered by Pamela Diederichs, while Marina Thebbe is responsible for the spiritual and interreligious concerns of the guests as a pastor. Nicol Endres takes care of the administration and is responsible for the bookings.

A new chapter begins

The “Clementinum” location also offers opportunities for communal experiences, which is further supported by the connection to the Trier Youth Church. The first guests are expected from August 2025, and the official opening of the house will take place on September 12, 2025 with a service and a subsequent meeting. Zillgen invites all interested parties to provide suggestions and feedback for the design of the house in order to truly create a place that meets the needs of young people, as is also emphasized on the website of the youth education centers.

The youth and guest house promises to become a lively meeting place where young people can learn, play and grow - in the spirit of an inclusive and sustainable future. This will make Trier a bit more colorful and diverse in its approach to young people!
