The longest coffee table in the Hochwald: A celebration of community in Weiskirchen!
The “longest coffee table in the Hochwald” was held in Weiskirchen on October 1, 2025, an event that did much more than just set a benchmark for table length. Under the motto “Community makes you strong,” this event was very well received and attracted over 100 participants, from kindergarten children to 87-year-old grandmothers. The whole thing was organized by the Council of the Pastoral Area of Wadern together with the Weiskirchen community and the tourism office manager Michael Trouvain, who took care of the detailed planning. Despite the ambitious planning for a 600 meter long panel, this goal was not fully achieved.
If you look at the atmosphere, this coffee table was a true celebration of neighborly solidarity. Around 13 beer tent sets, which were provided by the Technical Relief Agency (THW) and the Wadrill parish, were decorated for autumn and invited guests to linger. The participants brought their own coffee and cake, while the organizing team also provided sweet temptations. The festival was musically framed by the band “First door left” and the youth orchestra of the Original Hochwälder Schwarzwald Musikanten, who provided a lively setting.
Diverse offers for all generations
Children were not left out either. Activities such as face painting, bracelet making and various outdoor games ensured a good mood. Helma Kuhn-Theis, the first alderman, warmly welcomed the guests on behalf of Mayor Stefan Barth. Her words reflected the positive and welcoming mood that characterized the entire day.
Various clubs and groups also contributed to the success of the event. The DRK Weiskirchen provided the medical service and Caritas provided information about senior sponsors - a sign of how much commitment in the community is valued. The Weiskirchen and Bourbonne-les-Bains partnership association was also present to maintain international connections.
A positive conclusion
The feedback from the guests was consistently positive, and there was a consensus about the desire to repeat this community experience next year. Especially in times when community and cohesion are so important, an event like this shows how powerful a small village can achieve big things.
In order to further promote the colorful club life in Weiskirchen, there are many organizations that support the community. The outpatient heart group Weiskirchen e. V., the Saarland diabetic sports group and the numerous music and sports clubs are just a few of the many that actively enrich village life. If you would like to find out more about the possibilities, you can take a look at the Weiskirchen municipality website.
In summary, it can be said that the “longest coffee table in the Hochwald” was not only a gastronomic event, but also a warm gathering that showed how important neighborly cohesion is. So we can only hope that the next festival will attract even more people and further strengthen the sense of community. After all, a lively village doesn't just involve sharing cookies, but also getting together and celebrating.
