Merzig plays table tennis: 20 teams fight for the hobby championship title!
The 11th hobby city championship “Merzig plays table tennis” took place in Merzig on June 14, 2025, and the event was a complete success! In a colorful tournament that lasted around seven hours, 20 teams with around 70 players met to indulge in the sport of table tennis and have a lot of fun. The motto of the tournament was clear: all age groups and skill levels were represented and it was not just about the competition, but above all about the joy of the game.
The competition opened at 12:00 p.m. and participants formed teams of three, with each team allowed to have up to six players. Anyone who had not been actively registered for at least five years was eligible to participate. This concept ensured that young and old came together and competed in a friendly manner. [Wochenspiegel] also reports that it was very important to the organizers, the TTF Merzig, to offer a platform for all passionate hobby players.
