Max Mutzke rocks the Congress Hall: an evening full of emotions!

In a rousing atmosphere, Max Mutzke took to the stage of the Congress Hall in Saarbrücken with the SWR big band last weekend. The concert, which took place in front of 1,200 enthusiastic spectators, was not only sold out, but also a celebration of music, with the audience dancing and clapping for over half of the time. The evening began atmospherically with the two songs “Our Night” and “World Behind Glass,” which immediately captivated the audience.

A real highlight was the performance of the world-famous Moroccan percussionist Rhani Krija, who has worked with greats such as Sting, Lady Gaga and Stevie Wonder in his career. Mutzke impressed the audience with high vocals that were often reminiscent of the legendary Prince. The SWR big band delivered a first-class performance, in which the brass section shone with solo performances.

A look behind the scenes

The evening's repertoire ranged from their own songs to unique cover versions, including “Telephon” by Ideal and “Men in Black” by Will Smith. Mutzke also revealed how the song "Me and Mrs Jones" was added to the setlist, explaining that it wasn't planned but was quickly rehearsed. With an ironic compliment about the Congresshalle, which he compared to the famous Elbphilharmonie, he managed to make the audience laugh.

But personal insights were also not lacking: Mutzke spoke openly about a difficult separation and his newly founded patchwork family. He did not want to comment on the rumors regarding the possible paternity of a child by Carolin Kebekus, but this did not dampen the mood.

A memorable ending

The concert ended after almost two hours with the powerful song “Can’t Wait Until Tonight”, with which he achieved eighth place at the Eurovision Song Contest 2003. After the official part, the audience was rewarded with an additional 20 minutes, which only increased the enthusiasm.

For Mutzke and those present, it was an unforgettable evening that impressively demonstrated not only the musical diversity, but also the artist's ability to touch his audience.
