The anticipation for the German Championships in Jazz and Modern/Contemporary is increasing in Schermbeck. The Grün-Weiß Höchst aktiv dance club has successfully qualified and is sending several talents into the competition. The championships will take place next weekend in Saarlouis and the dancers are preparing intensively for them. Schermbeck Limitless reports on the impressive performances that led to qualification.
The regional championship in Barmen was a highlight for Sofie Scholz, who stood out as a female in the Solo Junior I category. The small group called “Avalanche” also impressed with a strong performance. This consists of the dancers Esther and Phyllis Akenya, Luisa Dieckmann, Naima Gülcher, Lea Sophie Kremp, Asya Mert, Emma Sophie Schwering and Jill Turnbull, who also qualified for the championships. For the duo competition, Lea Sophie Kremp and Lotta Overkämping danced to an excellent final placement of sixth place, which also secured them participation in the German Championships. The two are enthusiastic about the shared choreography, especially the lifting figures that they presented.
Successful tournaments in the preseason
Before things get serious in Saarlouis, the Grün-Weiß Schermbeck dance club has already celebrated impressive successes in the last few weeks. How Schermbeck Online reported, four tournaments in jazz and modern/contemporary took place last weekend. The Schermbeck teams “T.D.R.”, “Avalanche” and “Statement” took part and won a whopping thirteen out of fifteen possible first ratings.
The formation “T.D.R.” was able to be celebrated as the winner by the spectators at the third tournament of the Regionalliga West and celebrated its first win of the season after strong performances in the previous events in Ibbenbüren and Brühl. “Avalanche” didn’t disappoint either and left the competition behind with the dream result of five ones in their rating. “Statement” put an additional exclamation mark with their third win in a row and shows that they are on the way to promotion to the Regionalliga West. The impressive choreography “Traces” by Sebastian Spahn was praised for its expressiveness and precision, which deeply touched those watching.
