Hans Hoffmann: Big praise for years of volunteer work in football!
A very special moment was celebrated at the FV Eppelborn stadium festival on July 10, 2025: Hans Hoffmann was awarded the prestigious association badge of honor in gold with a laurel wreath from the Saarland Football Association (SFV). This honorable award is given to people who have made outstanding contributions to the sport of football. Weekly Mirror Online reports that it is not the first time for Hoffmann; More than a decade ago he received the association's gold badge for his years of commitment.
Hoffmann is characterized by his diverse activities: He is a class leader and an active member of the North Saar district board of the SFV. He also served on the board of FV Eppelborn for a long time and is now an honorary board member. Heribert Ohlmann, President of the Saarland Football Association, was also present at the award ceremony and presented Hoffmann with the award. He was accompanied by Vice President Stephan Alt and Edwin Sehr, the volunteer officer, who both praised Hoffmann's enormous commitment.
Honor volunteering
The importance of volunteering in football is emphasized again and again. It is the backbone of amateur football clubs in Germany. Co-coach emphasizes that without volunteers the game operations could hardly be maintained. These volunteers, who often work unnoticed in the background, are the ones who keep the club running. Be it as a trainer, supervisor or board member – your commitment shapes the community.
Another example of such remarkable commitment is provided by the recent award of Manfred Linxweiler, who was also honored with the association's badge of honor in gold with a laurel wreath at the general meeting of Sportfreunde Dörrenbach. Linxweiler, who has served as first chairman for 30 years, has made a significant contribution to modernizing the club's hard court. Under his leadership, it was converted into a natural grass pitch with LED floodlights, and a well to supply water to the sprinkler system was also installed. Saar FV emphasizes that the well is also available to the fire department.
Organize volunteer work
The possibilities for getting involved in amateur football are diverse: In addition to organizing training sessions, there are options such as planning game sequences or even carrying out integrative projects for socially disadvantaged children. Volunteers not only strengthen the club, but also make a valuable social contribution to the community.
The achievements of committed people like Hans Hoffmann and Manfred Linxweiler should therefore not be underestimated. Their tireless efforts ensure that amateur football in Germany not only exists, but also flourishes. Whether through sporting success or social integration - volunteering not only advances the club, but also promotes values such as fair play, tolerance and respect and ensures a lively community. It is clear that volunteerism is irreplaceable in amateur football and these dedicated individuals are true pillars of our society.
