Knowledge adventure for children: Saarlouis UNI takes off!

The “Children’s UNI” in Saarlouis has developed over the years into a real highlight for inquisitive young minds. In the coming half of 2026, exciting events await 8 to 12-year-olds, which not only impart knowledge but also offer a lot of fun. The joint project between children and family representative Marie Meuren and the Saarlouis Adult Education Center starts the program on February 7th. It is the 30th semester of this popular series, which has been generating enthusiasm for 15 years and introducing children to various topics in a playful way.

The first event, "Ready for action! Your mission: first aid", takes place at the German Red Cross (DRK district association) and teaches the children about life-saving emergency measures. The young participants also have the opportunity to see an ambulance - certainly an experience that will be remembered! The entire program is free and events are scheduled for Saturdays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. All that is required is prior registration by the legal guardian, which can be done via various channels such as the adult education center website, by email or by telephone. Weekly Mirror Online reports that registration is really easy.

The variety of programs

The four events cover several exciting topics: This is what the children learn at “Fair & delicious!” Event on March 14th everything about fair trade, while on May 16th you can explore the “Fascinating Reptile World” in the Esther Bejarano House. At this event, snakes, geckos and turtles can be seen up close, supplemented by expert-supported information. The “Nature Detectives” event will conclude on June 20th in the city forest of Saarlouis. Here the little explorers can read animal tracks and get to know ecological connections better.

The concept of the children's university is not only educational, but also promotes togetherness: Each participant is allowed to register an accompanying person aged 8 and over, be it a sibling, parent or friend. This creates an attractive atmosphere in which adults can also engage with the topics.

Important aspects of first aid

A central component of the program is first aid training, which is also important for educational and care facilities. The German Red Cross offers courses that are not only intended to increase safety in schools and daycare centers, but also contribute to training employees in first aid. Here, those involved learn how to act correctly in emergencies, a skill that is particularly valuable when it comes to children.

In summary, the children's university in Saarlouis is an excellent opportunity for young people to learn new things and develop in an entertaining way. Registering is a simple undertaking, and the variety of topics ensures variety and enjoyment. Parents should therefore find a place for their children in good time! Further details about the events are available online on the adult education center website, which makes the organizational processes easier.
