British flair at Gut Basthorst: A weekend full of highlights!
The anticipation for the “British Flair with Country Fair” event at Gut Basthorst is increasing! From September 5th to 7th, 2025, the picturesque estate, about 30 kilometers northwest of Hamburg, will be transformed into a true mecca for lovers of the British lifestyle. With a colorful program full of cultural highlights and culinary delicacies, there is something for every taste. [LN-Online].
Visitors can look forward to a wide range of offerings, including everything from elegant fashion to antiques and British specialties. Exhibitors present furniture, decorative items and souvenirs in the typical English Country style, while culinary delights range from fish & chips and scones with clotted cream to Highland cattle burgers and Scottish whiskey. British Flair particularly highlights the delicious pies and traditional British cider, which will be part of the fine GASTRONOMY.
Sports and entertainment
But it's not just the culinary offering that's impressive. There's also a lot of sport involved: at the Scottish Highland Games, visitors can look forward to a variety of competitions. Rugby demonstrations and Jack Russell races, combined with sheepdog demonstrations, provide exciting entertainment. “Equestrian Day” also takes place on Sunday, where English pony breeds and various riding classes are presented. British Flair promises a varied weekend that is a highlight not only for adults but also for children with a special program centered around Paddington Bear.
An absolute highlight is the Open Air Proms Concert on Saturday evening, which will take place under the direction of Russell N. Harris with the Hamburg Festival Orchestra. With a program that includes both classical and modern sounds, visitors are invited to a picnic under the stars. The evening promises a musical experience in a class of its own.
A celebration for a good cause
Amidst all the joy, there is also a social aspect: the proceeds from the raffle and the rubber boot toss benefit the “wellengang hamburg” project, which supports children of mentally ill parents. This shows that fun and charity go hand in hand this weekend. According to LN-Online, the organizers not only thought about a great program, but also about the importance of community and Support.
The opening times are also tempting for visitors: on Friday the trade fair is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets are available online from five euros, and for children and kilt wearers from just two euros. A visit is definitely worth it! Further information can be found at British Flair.
The event is part of a series of cultural events taking place between Great Britain and Germany in 2025 and fits harmoniously into the mix. With numerous exhibitions, readings and concerts showcasing British authors and artists, there is something for everyone. You can also experience British culture up close in Cologne, where the Wallraf-Richartz Museum and the Museum Ludwig, among others, present special exhibitions.
