Join us! Cycling to work brings fitness and great prizes!

Summertime calls for movement! The AOK NordWest “Cycle to Work” campaign is in full swing and runs until August 31, 2025. This nationwide participation campaign not only encourages cycling, but also aims to promote the fitness and well-being of the participants. Anyone who cycles to work or in connection with home office for at least 20 working days can take part. It doesn’t matter whether they are experienced cyclists or beginners – commuters are also welcome!

Another bonus: Participants have the opportunity to start in teams with up to four colleagues. “We want to strengthen team spirit and at the same time highlight the benefits of cycling,” said AOK spokesman. The best part? Those working from home can enter their “fitness trips” in the online campaign calendar, which must be completely filled out by September 17th at the latest. Further details about the campaign can be found at www.mdrza.de.

Health benefits and prices

The benefits of cycling cannot be denied. Participation can not only improve fitness, but also strengthen the immune system and reduce the risk of diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure. Participants can also look forward to great prizes: e-bikes, high-quality bicycle accessories and bicycle insurance will be raffled off among all participants. According to a current study, the “Bicycle & E-Bike Study 2024” by WertGarantie, 37.1 percent of those surveyed could imagine regularly cycling to work - a sign that the campaign is falling on fertile ground.

The transport minister of Schleswig-Holstein, Claus Ruhe Madsen, took over the patronage. He emphasizes the importance of promoting cycling and the initiative to improve the quality of life in the region. “The state government is actively committed to a bicycle-friendly infrastructure,” said Madsen.

Cycling as a team spirit

With over 20.9 million members, AOK NordWest is a major player in the health sector and is using this campaign to motivate people to switch from cars to bikes. Team trips to work offer a great opportunity to not only get fit, but also to make a difference together with colleagues. In addition, commuters who cover parts of the journey by bike can spice up their daily commute.

Be there and benefit from the opportunity to stay fit, strengthen team spirit and at the same time do something for the environment. “Bike to work” – a campaign that moves more than just bikes!
