Construction site chaos in Kiel: Where the streets are closed today!
The city of Kiel is currently not calming down. Numerous construction sites ensure a lot of activity on the streets, and there are a lot of things to keep in mind for drivers and pedestrians. Anyone traveling in Kiel must be prepared for various closures and diversions.
Things will be particularly tight in the Russee district from today until June 29, 2025, because the Haßberg roadway is completely closed here. Residents must be prepared that their properties will not be accessible during this time. The renovation of this road is the focus of the construction work, which will require many a detour over the coming days. Anyone coming from the Rendsburger Landstrasse junction will be directed to a detailed diversion, as kn-online.de reports.
Construction site overview
In Gaarden-Ost, Preetzer Straße is closed on one side until June 30, 2025. A new branch of the day clinic of the Center for Integrative Psychiatry (ZIP) is being built here between house numbers 4 and 6. This measure shows that the city is investing not only in road infrastructure, but also in the health of its citizens.
Another big project is coming up in Gaarden: Von-der-Goltz-Allee will be closed between June 30th and July 4th, 2025, as the asphalted section between Krusenotter Weg and Dorotheenstraße is being renewed. Traffic will be redirected at this point and pedestrians will have to expect restrictions, especially Dorotheenstrasse will become a dead end.
But not much progress will be made on Wörthstrasse in Schreventeich until July 4, 2025, because there will be a complete closure here in order to repair two dirty water connections. A look at the full closures shows that Flensburger Straße in Wik will also not be accessible until July 21, 2025. The bike route is being expanded here. Quite a lengthy process, but for the safety of cyclists it is important that the work is carried out carefully.
Other current construction sites
The excavator will also be rolling in Hassee until the end of November 2025, where a comprehensive renovation of the sewers and the road between Rendsburger Landstrasse and Uhlenkrog will be carried out. There will be a complete closure on Hasseer Straße until July 25, 2025, where extensive renovation and expansion work is also taking place.
The construction site on Alte Lübecker Chaussee is particularly noticeable; drivers can expect a height limit of 3.60 meters here. Deutsche Bahn is renewing railway bridges here. In order to prevent vehicles that are too high from entering the construction site, various measures were taken, such as the installation of a digital height control. If this height is exceeded, a traffic light turns red and traffic comes to a standstill in front of the bridges.
