City cycling 2025 in Lübeck: Start together for more climate protection!

One thing is certain: CITY CYCLING 2025 begins in Lübeck on June 21st, and over 2,500 participants have already registered. Anyone who lives, works, studies or is active in a club in Lübeck can take part. The three-week event aims to promote greater climate protection and improve air quality in the city. At 11 a.m., Ulrich Hinsen, the Environment Senator, officially gives the starting signal for the indoor kick-off event at the Mühlentor administrative center.

For all cycling enthusiasts who would like to take part in CITY CYCLING, the ADFC Lübeck has organized an exciting kick-off tour of around 32 kilometers. This tour leads through picturesque districts such as Buntekuh, Steinrade and Eckhorst and has two breaks planned during which participants can exchange ideas and provide themselves with food. In addition, the awarding of prizes to the three best individual cyclists, teams and schools will be another highlight of the event!

A look back

The entire campaign is supported by numerous partners, including the ADFC Kreisverband Lübeck e.V., MTB-Market GmbH, StattAuto eG and RAD.SH e.V. But that's not all, the newly introduced city cycling app enables participants to record the routes they travel using GPS tracking and thus make an active contribution to shaping the climate, health and traffic safety.

Funding for cycling projects

In order to further promote cycling, communities and initiatives can apply for financial support. However, the application process for cycling projects is two-stage and requires the submission of a project outline. There are set deadlines for submission, which is made easier by the “easy-Online” platform. The request to submit an application will be made as soon as the project outlines have been checked. The support aims to make cycling safer and more attractive, which also has a positive effect on the climate.

In Lübeck, preparations for CITY CYCLING are already taking shape. In view of the upcoming event and the large number of projects to promote cycling, it is clear: cycling here is not just for health, but also for a clean environment.
