The summer holidays are just around the corner, and a very special stay on the Baltic Sea is becoming a reality for numerous Ukrainian war orphans. Around 30 of these traumatized children, who often arrive accompanied by their mothers and carers, are expected in Eckernförde at the end of July. The project organized by Rotary Hilfe Gottorf, which is now taking place for the fourth time, aims to give the affected families a well-deserved break from the horror of war. NDR reports that this group consists of children between the ages of two and a half and 17 and that numerous joint activities are already planned in Eckernförde.
The situation in which these children find themselves shows how important such recovery phases are. Many have not only lost their homes, but also family and friends. The consequences are serious: fears, loss of self-esteem and developmental delays plague the young people affected. A community project is spreading

In addition to relaxation, there are also various activities on the plan that are intended to give the children space to relax and recharge their batteries. The focus here is not only on leisure activities, but also on psychosocial support that helps to process the conversations and experiences of the last few months.
The anticipation of this stay is great because it offers an opportunity to leave everyday life behind for a moment. The support of the local population is enormously important here.
