40 years of the Schröder bookstore: An adventure for readers in Schleswig!

The Schröder bookstore in Schleswig looks back on an eventful history: 40 years ago, Wolfgang Schröder landed in the world of booksellers and has considered his job an exciting one ever sinceadventure. For him, selling and distributing books isn't just about business - it's a passion that he shares with his brothers Hartwig and Lothar. While Hartwig sails on the Baltic Sea with his three-masted gaff schooner Pippilotta, Lothar has been a bookseller in Süderbrarup for 32 years. A family business through and through that always keeps moving.

In the early years, Wolfgang Schröder's family ran the largest bookstore in Schleswig, which laid the foundation for his own bookstore in the medical center at the ZOB. Twelve years later, in Stadtweg in the VR Bank-Passage, Schröder opened the doors to his now 50 square meter building Bookstore. A wide range of literary treasures come together here - from maritime literature to travel guides to exciting crime novels.

Readings and lectures

A special highlight in the bookstore's history are the regular lectures that Wolfgang Schröder organizes at the Hotel Hohenzollern. These events, which continue to this day, offer readings and multi-vision shows in which adventurous journeys by well-known personalities such as Arved Fuchs and Rüdiger Nehberg are discussed. Another highlight is coming up on November 7th when Gunnar Green takes the stage to report on “Wild Schleswig-Holstein”.

A look outside the box

Working with the publisher is particularly exciting OCEANUM, which publishes books about seafaring. If you are looking for new releases, you will find, among others, the titles “OCEANUM SPEZIAL Kiel Canal” or “Seeweg Afrika” by Detlef Hechtel.
