On Saturday, June 14, 2025, a large-scale civil protection exercise will take place in Heikendorf. From 10 a.m., the grounds of the Heikendorfer Gymnasium will become the venue where all civil protection units in the Plön district train together. How kn online reported, in addition to the rescue service, the Technical Relief Agency (THW) and numerous other groups are on site to optimize and test the processes.
Various units are deployed in this comprehensive exercise, including the technical operations management, the hazardous goods fire brigade, medical groups and support groups. District spokeswoman Nicole Heyck emphasizes the importance of these exercise days: They make a decisive contribution to strengthening civil protection and improving communication between the various units. During the exercise, an increased volume of traffic and deployment is to be expected around the exercise site.
The technical relief organization in focus
The THW is known for its diverse operations in civil protection, which range from support during natural disasters to technical emergencies. A similar large-scale exercise recently took place in the coal port of the Gersteinwerk in Stockum. As part of this exercise by calf was documented, five local associations were involved in rehearsing the emergency.
The emergency services have demonstrated impressive performance how well they are prepared for major fires and floods. A total of 126,000 liters of water per minute were moved during this exercise, which impressively illustrates the efficiency of the pumps used and the coordination of the teams. This year the THW is also celebrating its 75th anniversary.
