The long wait is over: In the replay for the district cup of the Rendsburg/Eckernförde district on June 28, 2025, the MTSV Hohenwestedt win 1-0 against Eckernförder SV (ESV). The exciting encounter took place in front of 450 spectators at the Wilhelmshöh sports field and offered plenty of thrills.
Although ESV had more of the game and was able to create some good chances, it was ultimately Hohenwestedt's Kjell Knaak who scored the decisive goal in the 75th minute - on an assist from Fabian Engbrecht. MTSV goalkeeper Mats Hinrichs also proved to be the hero of the day by saving a penalty from Leon Apitz in the 41st minute. This parade was a milestone in the game and made a decisive contribution to Hohenwestedter's victory.
A conciliatory conclusion
For MTSV captain Henrik Schnott and coach Sebastian Barth, the cup victory was a conciliatory end to the season. Barth, who has been through a lot this season, celebrated the victory with his team. However, the next challenge is on July 13th, when the Hohenwestedters meet the regional league relegated SV Todesfelde in the round of 16 of the SHFV state cup, where they have home advantage.
