Accident numbers are increasing: Traffic in the Segeberg district is so dangerous!
In the region around Segeberg and Pinneberg there is currently little reason to be happy when it comes to road safety. On June 28, 2025, the news magazine KN reported on an alarming traffic situation in the districts, which was recently evaluated by the police. The numbers are clear: In 2024, there were a total of 15,667 traffic accidents in these two areas, and that is without taking accidents on the highways into account. These accidents represent 17.4 percent of all traffic accidents in Schleswig-Holstein. KN reports.
There were sad casualties in these accidents: 17 people lost their lives, which is a decrease compared to the previous year. Nevertheless, the number of children injured or even dead increased, as one child died and 246 children were injured. What is particularly worrying is the increase in accidents involving e-scooters and e-bikes, which have increased by a whopping 30 percent. The most common causes of accidents are errors when turning, turning or giving way, according to the police in the Pinneberg and Segeberg districts in their accident statistics. Loud NDR This leads to an urgent need for action in traffic education.
Are the number of accidents increasing?
The traffic accident statistics not only show the clear numbers, but also important trends. A statistic of the Federal Statistical Office emphasizes that traffic accidents in Germany are recorded precisely in order to increase traffic safety. This comprehensive data is becoming increasingly important because it forms the basis for improvements in legislation, traffic education and infrastructure planning.
What is particularly striking is that the group of 55 to 70 year olds is often affected by Pedelec accidents. This makes it clear that everyone involved – from younger drivers to older road users – must develop a good knack for safety.
Emergency behavior in focus
But it's not just vehicle drivers who are challenged. Each of us should know how to behave in an emergency situation. If someone is in an emergency, they should dial 112 to alert the police, fire department or emergency services. Providing first aid if possible and remaining at the scene to collect valuable information if necessary is essential. The instructions of the rescue services must also be strictly followed. KN provides the necessary information here.
The developments in traffic safety in our region present us with challenges. It remains to be hoped that the new measures to improve the traffic situation will soon bear fruit. Together we can ensure more safety on the roads.
