Steinburg district shines in new cultural splendor: Aller.Land starts!

An important step for the Steinburg district has been taken! The district and the Wilster cultural center were selected for the nationwide Aller.Land program. How Steinburg reports, the Aller.Land program aims to bring culture to rural areas and promote social cohesion. Creative projects that are developed together with the population are supported.

In the last few months, numerous events in the Wilstermarsch have ensured a lively cultural life - from music in the village to an open-air cinema and drum workshops. The Wilster cultural center applied for funding with the Wilstermarsch.foffteihn project and was able to win. After a one-year testing phase, a five-year implementation phase is now underway, during which the project under the title “Steihnburg! – 10 weeks of culture.communities” will be funded from 2025 to 2030.

Promoting culture in rural areas

Minister of State for Culture Dr. Wolfram Weimer emphasized the importance of a diverse cultural offering, even far away from the big cities. Silvia Breher from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Community added that the federal government wanted to invest in cultural participation. The program offers the opportunity for people, initiatives and groups in the region to develop their own culture, democracy and participation formats.

In addition, a newly created project office will support and assist the various initiatives. All.Country has the goal of inviting people to get involved and relies on community-building, locally anchored and regionally focused projects. This is a response to current local challenges, including the inclusion of underrepresented groups such as young and older people or newcomers.

Innovative projects for the region

The first steps of the Aller.Land program were launched in 2023 with the launch of “Aller.Land – shaping together. Strengthening structures.” undertaken to strengthen culture, participation and democracy in rural areas. 97 regions already took part in the first phase in 2024 and each received 40,000 euros to develop viable concepts. In the first half of 2025, 30 regions were selected that will be allowed to test their concepts by mid-2030 kulturstaatsminister.de.

In summary, it shows that there is a lot going on in the Steinburg district and beyond. The funding concept offers creative freedom for art and village residences, the development of new cultural formats, as well as spaces for meetings and participation by the citizens themselves - commitment is very important here!
