Medical Association 2026: New campaign starts for active participation!

On October 12, 2025, at the general meeting of the regional association in Titisee-Neustadt, an exciting direction was set for the upcoming elections for the representative assemblies in the district medical associations of North Württemberg, North Baden, South Württemberg and South Baden from November 12 to 27, 2026. The Marburger Bund Baden-Württemberg has launched a comprehensive “activation campaign” to raise awareness of the relevance of the medical associations among the younger generation. Not only should candidates from the 2022 election be reactivated, but it is also important to encourage new, committed personalities to get involved.

The Marburger Bund has already achieved pleasing results in all four districts in the last election in 2022 and is aiming to top these successes. Supported by a specially formed working group that has been meeting since January 2025, a wide range of activities and materials are being developed. These include both print and online media to meet people where they are.

Diverse communication strategies

The activation campaign aims to sensitize doctors in Baden-Württemberg to the importance of professional political commitment at an early stage. Printed brochures in a handy format introduce active members of the Marburger Bund, while professionally filmed short videos provide exciting insights into the work of the chamber. These measures are intended to help more colleagues feel motivated to participate. A form for digital candidacy is also available on the chamber election website.

Another creative element of the campaign is a puzzle campaign launched by the delegates at the general meeting. The aim is to arouse interest in the upcoming election and commitment in the medical profession in a playful way. According to the initiative, the activation campaign will last about a full year, while the hot phase will begin before the election in autumn 2026.

The role of the medical association

In Baden-Württemberg, the State Medical Association forms the basis of professional political self-administration for doctors. The chambers are corporations under public law and take care of a wide range of aspects of health and professional policy. This includes political participation, regulations that apply nationwide, and important contact points for local doctors. They ensure that all doctors working in this federal state are compulsory members, which is why these elections are very important.

Good networking between the district medical associations – North Württemberg, South Württemberg, North Baden and South Baden – is essential. Each of these chambers has its own challenges and objectives that need to be addressed through the upcoming elections.
