Waste charges in the Alb-Donau district: there is a risk of a price increase from 2027!
There will be changes to waste fees in the Alb-Donau district in the coming years. As the Swabian reports, there will be an increase in waste fees from 2027. Elke Bossert, the operations manager of the company “Abfallwirtschaft Alb-Donau-Kreis”, announced this during a district council meeting. So far, the financial reserves are so solid that no adjustment of the fees is necessary for 2026. The reserves are expected to be used up, but this is a cause for concern as this could inevitably result in an increase in fees.
District Administrator Heiner Scheffold made it clear that the goal is fee stability. However, an increase in the amount of waste, especially household and bulky waste, makes adjustments necessary. According to forecasts, waste generation is expected to increase by 16 percent in 2024. This means an additional eight kilograms of waste per person on average. Nevertheless, the district remains below the national average in terms of waste volume, which is a positive aspect.
New system for garbage cans from 2025
From January 1, 2025, citizens can expect another innovation in waste disposal. The size and number of garbage cans can then be selected as required EVE communicates. This flexibility is intended to meet the different needs of households. There is also an obligation to connect to the residual waste and organic waste bins. If you compost your own composting, citizens can do without the organic waste bin, which is a sustainable alternative.
The residual and organic waste bins are usually removed every two weeks, while the paper bin is emptied every four weeks. The bins must be made available in good time - by 6:00 a.m. on the day of collection, with the lid closed and a valid tax stamp. With proper waste separation, a volume of around 15 liters of residual waste should be planned per person per 14-day emptying.
Fee overview until 2024
The current fees for residual waste bins (gray) until 2024 are as follows:

| 40 litres | €3.50 | €42.00 |
